Descrption:
The museum was founded in 1951 and is located in the palace, which is itself a cultural asset. The palace was built during the reign of the prince, later the king, Nikola I Petrović. It was designed by the Croatian architect dr. Josip Šilović Slade, whose works include the urban plan of the new town - Nikšić and the Emperor's Bridge on the river Zeta. The palace was built in the Neo-Renaissance style. It was completed in 1900, same as the Cathedral of St. Vasilija Ostroškog which is located in the immediate vicinity. When it was built, the palace was the crown of the new town and was bigger and more beautiful than all palaces previously built in Montenegro.
