Small sports stadium

Descrption:

A need for an adequate building for sports evolved over time and it was fulfilled in 1968 when the architect Slobodan Vukajlović made a design for a multi-sport court.

It is located along the south edge of the town’s park and faces it with its west, entering side. Its north, side façade faces Homeland Museum, its south side façade faces July 13th Boulevard while its east façade faces the hill on which auditorium is located.

Vukajlović used morphological features of the terrain logically. Playground and court building with a reception hall and changing rooms is located at the foothill of the hill which is a flat surface and ideal for such design.

Apart from football, Nikšić was appreciated for its boxing talents as well. Boxing club “Nikšić” gave multiple stars not only in regards to Montenegrin but Yugoslav boxing as well. It was in the first league in the former country for a long time. Many boxing matches took place on the Multi-Sport Court and they attracted a great number of local population. A parallel with the Multi-Sport Court in Podgorica could be made because it similarly represented local talents, giving them an opportunity to introduce themselves to the public and set a foundation for their future success.
